Hydrolyzed Polyacrylonitrile (HPAN) is a cost-effective fluid loss control agent widely used in oilfield drilling operations. Through controlled hydrolysis of polyacrylonitrile, this polymer acquires carboxylate groups that interact with clay particles to form stable colloidal suspensions. It functions effectively in both freshwater and low-to-medium salinity brine systems, providing reliable filtration control up to 250°F (121°C). The product helps maintain wellbore stability by preventing fluid invasion into permeable formations while minimally affecting mud rheology.
